It funds:

  1. The studies and projects required to develop the Intermodal Terminal and ZAL of Murcia through the “Connecting Europe” program, with a grant of €970,450 (50%).
  2. The project and construction works for the implementation of the Intermodal Terminal of Murcia and the construction works forthe railway connection to the TEN-T Mediterranean Corridor, under the grant agreement project 101079672 — 21-ES-TG-IT MURCIA, with a grant of €13,929,514 (30%).
  3. The construction works for the implementation of a Safe and Secure Parking Truck Area (SSTPA) gold level security of the European EU Parking standard, under the grant agreement project 101122631 — 22-ES-TG-MURCIA SAFE4TRUCKS, with a grant of €4,957.691 (50%).

It participates in the project through the “Framework Agreement for development of the strategic project for the Region of Murcia, including its logistics zone and railway intermodal zone”. Within its urban and land management competences, the City Hall commits to the following:

  • Contribute to the most suitable territorial, urban and environmental design for the project, promoting and facilitating environmental instruments, as well as any other element favoring project development (planning and urban management tools included).
  • Collaborate in land management activities for project development, easement management within its area of influence, etc.

It participates in the project through the collaboration protocol for development of intermodal terminals in the Region of Murcia. Representatives from the General Railway Planning Sub-directorate, General Transport Agency and ADIF (Spain’s Railway Infrastructure Administration) take part in the Protocol Monitoring Committee on behalf of the Spanish Ministry. Ministry participation is key considering the nature of planned actions and their competences, including road connections to the high capacity network and railway connections to the Railway System of General Interest (managed by ADIF). The latter includes the Intermodal Terminal.
